Impact of COVID-19 on IELTS Testing and Preparation

IELTS is an important language efficiency test that is recognized around the world by a lot of universities and organizations around the world. The pandemic made certain regulations of the testing conditions to adapt to the demands of the time they were in. However, there were not many changes but a few precautions that were necessary to abide by in order to conduct the test in the first place.

The IELTS organization had issued a regulation that consisted of certain rules that had to be followed by all the IELTS institutions around the world. The IELTS center needed everyone to wear a mask and be in the premises of the institution. Other than that, here is a list of regulations all IELTS centers had to follow as an impact of COVID- 19:

–       All applicants have to wear a mask at all times during the test
–       A mask is also required when the applicant and/ or instructor is at the IELTS institute
–       A hand sanitizer needs to be present at the IELTS institute for everyone to use with ease and maintain sanitation
–       There needs to be adequate spacing between the applicants giving the IELTS test.
–       The ideal distance between two people at any point of time needs to be at least 6 feet apart.
–       Test room has to be disinfected and deep cleaned.

These were some of the guidelines that were issued to ensure the safety of everyone in any IELTS institute. There is an added section in the IELTS application form itself that needs you to declare if you have been ill with fever, cough or cold a few days before taking any of the IELTS test components. You are bound to declare this information to ensure everyone’s safety.

Tips to Prepare for the IELTS Test during pandemic situations:

#1 Keep a track of all the COVID protocols in your state and country. More importantly, you need to get information from the university/ organization you are trying to apply to for exact information no when any changes in the admission process. It is possible that the host country may not be accepting flights from your country.
 
#2 You have to keep your normal study schedule going even when you are not too sure of these procedures. Your preparation has to be complete whenever the precautionary regulations are lifted.
